With the first customer trials underway in Gauteng and Cape Town, WiMax is poised to offer customers alternatives to existing broadband access technologies.

To assist service providers with the fastest rollout of services, Concilium Technologies has introduced Agilent Technologies WiMax Optimisation Solution for IEEE 802.16e 2005.
This network optimisation test platform enables WiMax service providers to authenticate the actual subscriber experience in real-world WiMax environments, plus allows them to develop faster and more reliable WiMax-enabled products.
"With the integration of WiMax into existing 2G and 3G networks, the complexities increase exponentially for the service provider. Sophisticated tools are therefore required to be able to ensure the highest quality of service to potential WiMax customers," explains Steve Alves, MD of Concilium Technologies.
"However, with the Agilent WiMax Optimisation Solution service providers can overcome complexity issues, allowing them to develop solutions faster and more efficiently."
The Agilent WiMax Optimisation Solution is the latest version of the new 4G air interface technology, enhanced for high-speed packet data transfer with Quality of Service (QoS). It, for example, enables 4G wireless communications systems to deliver business-critical data services such as video telephony, video conferencing and video streaming downloads, with network-enforced QoS to guarantee the performance of the service.
