Obsidian Training has been appointed as the official partners of JBoss in South Africa. Courses are now available from Obsidian for all levels of user wishing to gain official certification in working with the leading open source Java EE-based application server, as well as JBoss subscriptions.
JBoss is a cross-platform application server that can be used on any operating system that supports Java. The solution was acquired by Red Hat in 2006 and offers a services-based business model for developers, implementing the full suite of Java EE services. This offers a powerful and flexible platform for application development and is gaining support in the enterprise market, leveraged by the Red Hat brand.
“JBoss is an exciting product and offers a new approach to application development,” explains Muggie van Staden, managing director of Obsidian Training. “This is an enterprise class solution for building, integrating and deploying applications and offers great opportunities for developers who are certified to work with the platform.”
He says that Obsidian is offering a full compliment of training courses in JBoss, including JBoss for Administrators, JBoss and EJB3 for Java Developers and JBoss for Advanced J2EE Developers. These offerings cover the full range of possibilities for working with JBoss.
“These courses are available now from Obsidian Training and we look forward to accrediting the first students,” adds van Staden.
Obsidian Systems will also be providing JBoss subscriptions. So developers are able to subscribe to and get trained on JBoss – all from the Obsidian group of companies.
“JBoss is picking up traction in the market, especially now that Red Hat has taken it into the company and added their market-leading flavour to the product,” explains van Staden. “Therefore the opportunities for JBoss developers are growing – especially in the enterprise space.”
