Pinnacle Micro has beefed up its presence in the local distribution arena with the addition of the country's second largest PC vendor, Acer, to its product portfolio.
Acer says it has appointed Pinnacle as a distributor of its commercial products in southern Africa as part of a drive to increase its share of the corporate and government PC markets.
"Pinnacle Micro is an ideal partner for Acer SA as we look to grow the business in major accounts," says David Drummond, country manager of Acer SA. "The company has an excellent track record as a distributor of PCs and related products, as well as a strong presence in a range of government and corporate accounts.
"Acer SA has reached the number two position in the South African PC market, largely on the back of its success in the SMB and retail markets," he adds. "As such, the appointment of Pinnacle Micro as a distributor complements Acer SA's existing business and distribution channels by allowing us to move more aggressively into the corporate market where we do not yet have a major presence."
Says Arnold Fourie, CEO of Pinnacle Micro: "Pinnacle Micro has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past five years, and looks forward to expanding its business in a number of key corporate and government accounts in partnership with Acer."
Pinnacle will distribute a comprehensive range of Acer products into corporate and government accounts and has been appointed to focus on the desktop and server product range, including the Veriton and Power series PCs, and Altos servers and storage.
The company will also distribute LCD monitors, projectors and, through Acer's existing partners will provide the TravelMate and commercial range of notebooks.
The company's territory will encompass South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, and Malawi.
