Google could launch a mobile phone incorporating search functions by as early as next year.

The Wall Street Journal yesterday reported that the search company has invested heavily in the project and is now talking to mobile network operators in the US and Europe about selling the phones with Google service.
It was reported last month by Reuters trends service Anian that Google had engaged a Taiwanese company, High Tech Computer, to design a phone based on the Linux operating system.
The Wall Street Journal also says Google has developed prototype phones and discussed specs with other manufacturers include LG.
