A new South African company, Cell Date Secure, has come up with a way in which cell phone users can download the contact details that are stored on their phones to a central web system.

Present-day South Africans are increasingly dependent on cell phones for social, family and business communication, and a broken, lost or stolen cell phone entails – apart from the loss – also the chore of having to restore the carefully collected list of contact numbers.
Cell Data Secure solves this problem by letting subscribers download their contact lists to a confidential website and can update, modify or recover the information at any time.
At the moment the system only makes provision for contact details, but the plan is to expand it to allow users to download other cell phone data, like e-mail and Windows Functions, to the website.
