Following the success of this year’s SAPICS Conference and Exhibition, the organisers are already planning next year’s event, with some changes that will benefit delegates.

“For 2008, we have moved the workshops to Sunday afternoon,” says SAPICS president Ken Titmuss. “These have traditionally taken place on the Wednesday of the conference, but, in consultation with delegates, we have decided to make this change, mainly so that everyone can relax and enjoy the gala dinner knowing that the working part of the conference is finished."
Delegates can also look forward to an even bigger and better SAPICS Conference and Exhibition in 2008, since it’s the 30th anniversary of this popular event. The first SAPICS Conference took place in Rustenburg, for just thirty-five delegates. Today, it attracts close to 1 000 attendees, more than 50 exhibitors who showcase the industry’s latest products and technologies, and it features sought-after local and international speakers.
“Several exhibitors have already booked their stands for next year’s event,” Titmuss notes. “We are also delighted to have received enquiries from sponsors, bookings from delegates and proposals from speakers who are very keen to be involved next year.”
The theme of the conference in 2008 will be “Capabilities for Growth”.
“This theme was voted the most suitable to enable us to focus on the challenges and opportunities for Supply Chain and Operations Management professionals in the fast changing South African environment. There will be new and exciting elements of the conference such as the introduction of an Executive Track on the Monday morning, idea exchange sessions, more fabulous entertainment and lots of time for networking. Invitations are already being issued to world class speakers and the call for papers will be in circulation shortly.”
The 30th Annual SAPICS Conference and Exhibition will be held at Sun City from 29 June to 2 July 2008.
