IT security and control firm Sophos has announced that it has been presented with the EMEA Network Security Customer Value Enhancement Award by the global growth consulting company, Frost & Sullivan.

Presented each year to a company that has best demonstrated the ability to expand its customer base, the award recognises innovation in areas such as customer acquisition and service strategies, and whether those strategies have met customers' needs and requirements. Finalists are judged on a number of aspects, such as their current position and ability to grow in a maturing market, innovative product and price bundles, and any strategic move which will additionally benefit the customer.
"In the last 18 months, Sophos has continued to add to its product portfolio, integrating new technologies such as application control and host intrusion prevention (HIPS) into core products, and has developed first-rate web and email managed appliances. The security solutions on offer, coupled with industry-leading research labs and 24 hour support, make Sophos the clear leader," says Jose Lopez, analyst at Frost & Sullivan.
"The addition of network access control (NAC) and mobile security have bolstered Sophos's value proposition ahead of competitive vendors and with this award Frost & Sullivan is recognising Sophos as a heavyweight player in the market."
Annie Gay, VP EMEA at Sophos, adds: "Integrating innovative technologies such as NAC and application control into our anti-virus and anti-spam best-of-breed solutions, has put Sophos at the cutting edge of the market. The reason is simple: companies want proactive and effective protection. Not only is there a need to keep the bad stuff out, but also to monitor and control what is being run inside the company – this is the security and control issue that we are addressing.
"Our product and service offering is not only attracting a wealth of new customers, but also high profile awards like this one, which means we're on the right track. It is a great honour for Sophos to receive the 2007 EMEA Network Security Customer Value Enhancement Award."
