In its first official foray into the local reseller channel since opening in South Africa, AMD has announced two roadshows which will not only update the company's technology roadmaps, but also offer solutions for some of the unique business challenges faced locally such as "load shedding".
The inaugural "solutions evenings" are to be held in Cape Town on 13 February and Johannesburg on 14 February.
Imi Mosaheb, country manager of AMD South Africa, says the solutions evenings will be of great benefit to local resellers – and not just for the Phenom processors that will be up for grabs.
"Delegates will be updated on AMD's latest and future microprocessors, chipsets, motherboards and ATI graphic solutions, and will also have the opportunity to register with us as official partners," says Mosaheb. "The solutions evenings will see us distribute our first official AMD channel and point-of-sale kits."
The keynote at both events is AMD's EMEA sales and marketing technical director, Guiseppe Amato who, among other topics, will discuss solutions to some of the unique problems faced by South Africans such as the scourge of "load shedding" and the increasing cost of power.
"Giuseppe will explain how to manage existing desktop and server environment energy supplies more efficiently, and introduce AMD technology designed specifically to maximise performance while minimising power consumption and heat," Mosaheb says. "He will also highlight the latest processors, chipsets and graphical solutions designed to enhance user experience in a variety of key markets, including gaming and business computing."
Mosaheb stresses that numbers for both sessions are limited and that registration will be accepted on a "first come, first served" basis. Interested resellers can register at www.aftershock.co.za/tonic_creative/rsvp.php.
