Multisource has announced today the launch of Trango Systems’ second-generation Apex all-outdoor microwave backhaul system into the African market.
The release consists of two new models, the TrangoLINKApexPlus and the TrangoLINK Elite Series, designed for mobile backhaul in the fixed & mobile carrier, government and enterprise markets.
The announcement was made by Multisource CEO Richard Smuts-Steyn at the annual GMSA World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.
ApexPlus and theElite Series build on the foundation of the TrangoLINK systems which has been deployed worldwide for the past three years. Both new models share a patent-pending flexible design that allows support for all frequency bands and TR spacings in the6-40 GHz range, and provides industry-leading total system gain and performance levels.
Interfaces include GigE copper, fibre and T1/E1 interfaces. Hitless adaptive coding & modulation (ACM) are standard and the systems support 1+1 hot standby configurations for full link redundancy. Total possible throughput has been increased to 2Ghz full duplex on the Elite series.
Smuts-Steyn comments: “The TrangoLINK Elite Series and the ApexPlus provide levels of performance, security, and functionality that are simply not available from any competing brand and presents Trango as the clear market leader in licensed band point to point microwave communication systems. It is very exciting for Multisource to be the onlycompany to offer this into Africa."
Smuts-Steyn also welcomed Multisource's partnership with STM, which brings cost-effective rural GSM base stations, satellite hubs and VSAT terminals to Africa.
STM's SuperPico system employs advanced digital radio technology developed in Norway combined with software-defined radio functionality, resulting in a low-cost rural GSM solution with advanced picocell technology.
Optimised for rural cellular applications, as well as marine and rapid deployments, these small, rugged all-outdoor systems consume less than 35W per TRX, yet provide coverage up to 10km radius. This results in the lowest power consumption in the industry, per unit of RF output power.
