Magix Security, the independent specialised IT security company, has appointed Phillip Gerber as managing director with immediate effect.
Gerber sports a B.Com in Informatics and has been with the Magix group since 2003. He started his career in the IT world at Eskom in 1993, before moving to the UK. Following a successful career in the financial and Internet industries in the UK, he returned to South Africa to join Magix Integration.
In taking the reins at Magix Security, Gerber says that while it’s a great challenge he faces, it is one he relishes.
“In one way, taking the lead at Magix Security at this stage of its development is very exciting as we have a clear focus as to where the company is going,” says Gerber.
“On the other hand, while there is no doubt that we’re facing tough economic times at the moment, with the Magix track record as well as the skills and technology we offer, we can deliver value to our client base that few competitors can match.”
Commenting on Gerber’s appointment, Chris Hills, chairman and previous MD of Magix Security, says, “Phillip has a great track record in the information technology world, as well as in supplying and supporting IT solutions at enterprises of all sizes.
“Coupled with this he also has excellent relationships with clients across the board and is universally respected by all our stakeholders, which makes him the optimal choice to head up Magix Security.”
Gerber states that his immediate focus is to maintain and improve the company’s levels of customer service and support to ensure its clients retain their confidence in Magix Security.
“We have built a strong team at Magix Security over the past year and hold some of the top security skills in the country,” adds Gerber.
“I look forward to the challenge ahead, positive we will be able to continue exceeding customer expectations while keeping up with the latest technology advances in the security market. Once business budgets ease, we will be in the perfect position to capitalise on supplying and supporting the integrated security needs of our enterprise customers.”
