The tablet device could partly or completely replace the laptop computer for many users.
This is one of the findings from research by IDG Connect, which found that 12% of iPad users have already completely replaced their laptop, with 54% saying it has partially replaced their traditional computer.
Marketers’ perceptions are slightly different: only 4% believe tablet adoption won’t impact the use of laptops; while 7% think it will have a very high impact.
Most marketers are still stuck in the middle, with 37% believing it will have a high impact and 37% believing it will have some impact.
And, although marketers don’t think tablets will impact smartphone usage, users don’t agree. IDG Connect research indicated that tablets have fully replaced smartphone in only 2% of cases, but they have partially replaced them in 43% of instances.
