At least 78% of South African cell phone users experience the frustration of dropped calls in the last month.

This is the finding from a survey conducted by insights company Pondering Panda among 2 212 cell phone users.

The results indicated that the level of dropped calls was similar across all four major cell phone networks.

Shirley Wakefield of Pondering Panda says:  “The level of dropped calls should be of concern to the cell phone companies, as this is causing significant customer dissatisfaction.

“Unfortunately, it would appear that there is nowhere to hide for South African cell phone users, as the level of complaints is almost identical for the major service providers, which indicates that there is little point in porting to another network, as the problem appears to be a universal one.”

The level of dropped calls is a problem in all cities in South Africa, and is experienced by all demographic groups.
