BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RiM) has scotched rumours that it plans to split itself in two by selling off the handset business.
Instead, RiM has said it’s committed to a company turnaround.
“RIM has hired advisers to help the company examine ways to leverage the BlackBerry platform through partnerships, licensing opportunities and strategic business model alternatives,” it said in a statement.
“As (CEO) Thorsten (Heins) said on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call: ‘We believe the best way to drive value for our stakeholders is to execute on our plan to turn the company around. This remains true.”
On Sunday, a newspaper report built on repeated rumours to state that RiM was considering selling either its handset unit or a stake in the company.
