XON, the BBBEE ICT solutions business, has expanded its direct footprint into Namibia and Kenya to complement its presence through partnerships in 11 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
XON maintains its head office in Johannesburg, with regional head offices in Durban and Cape Town and sales and support offices in every province of South Africa. Its Namibia and Kenya operations are located in the respective capitals.
“The direct footprint in Namibia and Kenya capitalises on the success we’ve experienced in the telecommunications service provider space in those countries where deregulated telecommunications and massive international bandwidth upgrades have created a fiercely competitive and progressive environment,” says Carel Coetzee, CEO of XON.
XON supplies, implements and maintains IP and transmission networks and security infrastructure solutions for large enterprises and telecommunications service providers, among others.
Demand has been so significant that XON managed togrow its Juniper Networks-based business 73% year-on-year by December 2011, and was subsequently awarded Juniper Networks Partner of the Year Middle East and Africa (MEA).
The Namibian office also serves Angola. Telecommunications infrastructure in Namibia and Angola has benefitted enormously from the West African Cable System (WACS). WACS is a 5,12Tbps cable stretching 14 000km in total length from South Africa to the UK with landing points in 14 countries, including Angola and Namibia.
XON offers a range of services in addition to its transmission, networking and security solutions including datacentre, fibre, copper, electrical and backup power solutions through its infrastructure division, retail in the form of Pricer electronic shelf labels, professional consulting and outsourcing services, hardware and software, and alternative energy.
All is available through the new offices, with first line support in country, backed up by the business’s network operation support centre in South Africa.
XON partners with leading global vendors such as Symantec, ADVA, Allot, F5, Acme Packet, Samsung, APC, Polycom, HP, Microsoft, and IBM to deliver customised solutions. The group has and continues to supply solutions to telecoms and Internet service providers, financial institutions, governments, educational institutions and strategic services throughout Africa.
