Oracle has announced Oracle’s StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library, the lowest cost, scalable tape library on the market.
An ideal archive and data protection solution for midsize and growing businesses, the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library scales from 30 to 300 slots and up to 900Tb of capacity, giving customers ample room to grow in a single tape library and significantly reducing service, installation and capital expenditure costs.
The StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library offers substantial space savings and can offer 40% higher density than competitive products. It can be deployed and expanded at up to 75% lower acquisition cost than comparable midrange solutions.
The StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library is easy-to-use and offers simple, streamlined management via an elegant, intuitive graphical user interface built on Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Linux. Users can easily view and navigate drive, library and media information without dealing with cumbersome file structure drill-downs as in other solutions.
The StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library can be installed in as little as 30 minutes and capacity can be added quickly using the library’s USB-based auto-discovery system to find new expansion modules.
It supports a wide range of open systems environments. Operating systems and platforms include Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux, Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Database Appliance, Oracle’s SPARC and Sun x86 servers, and Oracle’s Sun Storage.
It extends Oracle’s leadership in providing an integrated data protection and archive solution which includes Oracle 11g Recovery Manager, Oracle Secure Backup, Oracle StorageTek Tape Analytics, Oracle’s StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS) and Oracle’s Sun Storage Archive Manager software.
“Oracle’s StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library is ideal for midsize and growing companies, delivering exceptional scalability, cost savings and ease of use,” says James Cates, VP, Hardware Development, Oracle.
“The StorageTek SL150 delivers the capacity they need today and the headroom to grow with their businesses in the future.”
