ZMM protects IP on mobile devices

In most organisations, more than 70% of the company’s intellectual property (IP) flows from e-mail and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Sensitive data in CRM and ERP systems needs to be protected by companies, particularly as the data goes with users wherever they go.
“It is critical for companies to secure and manage the mobile devices within their ongoing business structures,” says Jessica Robinson, Novell partner executive at Novell’s Rivonia headquarters.
ZENworks Mobile Management (ZMM) ensures that mobile devices are secured and managed with secure access to sensitive data, are compliant with regulatory requirements, provide mobile users with IT support advantages including provisioning, management and trouble-shooting.
“ZMM turns ‘bring your own device’ (BOYD) into a business benefit, not a risk, ensuring that the company makes the most of the productivity and savings gains that mobile devices offer.”
Robinson adds that ZMM will manage and secure devices running on IOS, Android, Windows CE and Phone 7, Symbian, Blackberry and others.
“The software allows companies to define their security policies for mobile devices, making sure that users and their devices adhere to the policies. Novell ZMM uses ActiveSync and other platform specific, advanced mobile device management functionality to enforce policies,” she concludes.
