The industry is abuzz with rumours of a pending takeover of Finnish mobile phone-maker Nokia. The lead runner in a takeover bid was thought to be Microsoft, but apparently talks between the two have faltered.

Other companies mentioned in connection with the takeover rumours are Chinese manufacturers Huawei and Lenovo.

The rumours have been intensified since April, when the contract committing Siemens and Nokia to the joint venture of Nokia Siemens Networks came to an end.

With the imminent restructuring of Nokia Siemens Networks now on the cards, Nokia could find itself more attractive to buyers.
