VMware, the global leader in virtualisation and cloud infrastructure, has announced that Gartner has placed VMware in the Leaders Quadrant in its 2013 report, Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualisation Infrastructure.
According to Gartner, “As of mid-2013, almost two-thirds of x86 architecture workloads have been virtualised on servers.”
The report continues: “Virtualisation is a fundamental enabler to infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and will be used to establish private cloud services, public cloud services and interoperable hybrid cloud services. Effectively, all IaaS offerings will rely on VMs or container technology.”

In the past year, VMware’s customer base has grown to more than 500 000 customers worldwide, including 100% of the Fortune 100. There are now more than 242 verified VMware vCloud public clouds across 31 countries, and more than 3 700 applications are supported on VMware vSphere.
