Business Connexion’s Kids Aid app – developed primarily to focus on children’s medical emergency situations – was named Best Windows App at the second annual MTN Business App of the Year Awards this week.

The awards celebrate South Africa’s technical talent by showcasing locally developed applications that make a positive and lasting impact on consumers.

Kids Aid was developed by the Business Connexion Applications Services team and empowers parents to have first aid information available anywhere, anytime, with clear step-by-step instructions to ensure children are treated immediately for the most effective results.

With educational first aid information already available in a hard copy book format, the business challenge was to unlock this information and create a more current and widely available platform for users to find such information and have it at their fingertips. Using a mobile application allows the information to be more widely disseminated, making it accessible to a much larger segment of paying customers.

Managing executive for BCX’s Application Services, Andre Vermeulen says: “It is fantastic to receive feedback of this nature, thank you MTN for bringing these awards to such a young industry. Given the importance of what to do in a crisis situation and the increased availability of smart phones in the consumer space, we are expecting an increase in use for this app.”

As the biggest application development company in the country, Business Connexion is very optimistic of the future of mobility in South Africa. The anticipated growth to mobile solutions allows more people to gain access into the world of apps and the value it brings. The internet and big data trends will play a massive role in mobile solutions in the future.

“We will continue to explore the possibilities and platforms to bring best value to our client base and are committed in making many of the dreams a reality when it comes to mobile apps in Africa” adds Vermeulen.
The App is available on iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Mobile.
