Gijima, a leading JSE-listed IT company, last week received the Top Performing Partner in Mining award from Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider.

“Gijima has a long-standing relationship with Huawei and we are honoured to have been recognised in this fashion. This award is reflective of the commitment Gijima has shown in using Huawei solutions to address the specific requirements of the mining sector in South Africa,” says Grant Hutchons, ICT service asset executive at Gijima.

By leveraging strong R&D capabilities and comprehensive technical expertise obtained in the carrier space, Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group focuses on close cooperation and integration with partners such as Gijima, to deliver a broad portfolio of innovative ICT solutions that cater to global vertical industry and enterprise customers across government and public sector, finance, transportation, energy, mining and commercial businesses.

Hutchons says that Huawei has made a name for itself through its enterprise solutions and has provided hardware to some of the world’s largest mines based in China.

“The ability of Huawei to deliver according to specification and to the very exacting conditions of operating at mines, such as bomb- and humidity-proof casings for computers, combined with the local experience and integration capabilities of Gijima, make for a natural fit,” says Eman Liu, president of the Huawei Enterprise Business Group for Eastern and Southern Africa region.

“We won the award thanks to the work we are doing with Huawei to develop solutions that meet the specific requirements of mines and give them a platform to run their computing environment on.

“We are proud to present this award to Gijima for their outstanding achievement in this category. We look forward to further success in our co-operation with Gijima to achieve more win-win business outcomes and value creation for our customers,” Liu concludes.
