Epson SA has appointed Chemosol as a specialist reseller of its first direct-to-garment T-shirt printer, the Epson SureColor SC-F2000.

“Chemosol has been supplying quality equipment and consumables to the South African screen printing industry for more than 40 years, and it was logical that we should invite Chemosol to add the Epson SC-F2000 to its portfolio,” says Vernon Mellors, business account manager at Epson South Africa.

Launched at Epson’s first Large Format, Industrial and Commercial printer exhibition, the Epson SureColor SC-F2000 is available in two versions: as a high-speed, four colour printer (CMYK), and a five colour (CMYKW) printer that offers the added benefit of white ink for printing on dark or coloured fabrics.

The two models make it possible for businesses such as online T-shirt printing companies, short-run promotional clothing companies and even corporate users to offer a high quality, efficient fabric design and print service on runs of one item right up to 200 units. An additional feature is that personalised branding of names can be done per individual garment.

“We have been scouting the market for a cost-effective and robust short-run fabric printing device for a while now,” says Graham Beck, technical sales consultant at Chemosol. “We have worked with Epson for many years, and are already appointed resellers for the Epson SC-F6000 and SC-F7000 printers. When Epson approached us to add the SC-F2000 to our range, we welcomed the opportunity.”

Beck notes that the SC-F2000 has been well-received in the South African market, with Chemosol’s customers being impressed by the printer’s speed, durability, and the one year standard warranty offered by Epson. The printer is also favourably priced, and uses less ink than its competitors to achieve the high quality results it produces.

The SC-F2000 is capable of printing a single white T-shirt in 27 seconds when using dual colour mode, and a dark coloured T-shirt in one minute 51 seconds, using white and colour ink, It also offers a resolution of up to 1 440 x 1 440dpi for accurate dot shape and placement, whilst its wide colour range produces vibrant colours, sharp contours and smooth gradations.

“We have a very close relationship with Epson, and we have already sent technicians abroad for certification to support the SC-F2000 printers for repairs or maintenance,” says Beck. “Every component in this printer is made by Epson, as is the ink that it uses, and we are comfortable with the thorough training that Epson has provided our technical team.”

“The printer’s small footprint, its three different size print areas, and its high quality printing on diverse fabrics at high speed, are all features that are sure to make it a popular choice in the South African market,” says Mellors.

“We are confident that Chemosol is fully equipped to lead sales of the SC-F2000 in South Africa, and we look forward to extending our collaboration with them through this partnership.”
