MMD, license partner for monitors of the brand Philips, and AOC further increased their market share in South Africa. Both companies are subsidiaries of the world’s leading display manufacturer TPV.

As latest figures of analyst firm Context show, the market share for both brands reached more than 16 % in the third quarter of this year. Together both brands rank on the number two position in South Africa`s market for desktop monitors.

A large part of this success is based on the growth of the 27-inch segment which grew by more than 18 % compared to third quarter last year. Through extraordinary high increases in this segment, both brands could improve their position. With more than 25% market share Philips actually holds the number two position in the 27-inch segment. AOC actually holds the number five position in the segment.

“We are very satisfied and proud that our continuous focus on innovation and our customer centric approach show these positive results in our market shares,” comments Vineeth Sebastian, regional sales director, the latest figures.

“With both our brands – AOC and Philips – we deliver innovative products and solutions which fulfil customer’s needs in all segments of the market. In combination with our sales and marketing strategy this leads to the success which is now underlined by these positive results in market share.

“The monitor market in South Africa is still weak but shows signs for recovery in 2014. I am confident that with both, our strategy and our innovative product range, we will continue our successful development,” adds Vineeth Sebastian.
