DVT Academy, the training arm of software and services company DVT, has announced additional content and speakers for the upcoming Lean Agile SA (formerly Continuously Lean) conference in Cape Town and Johannesburg in early October.

Hosted in collaboration with the International Consortium for Agile (ICAgile), one of the key organisations responsible for globally-recognised Agile certifications and accreditations, Lean Agile SA is the first event of its kind to bring together the most diverse group of Agile authors, leaders and consultants in Africa for an intensive, hands-on conference and training program.

ICAgile MD Shannon Ewan joins the list of world experts at the conference that includes renowned Agile authors, mentors and consultants Mary and Tom Poppendieck, South Africa’s only certified Scrum coach and trainer Peter Hundermark, and a wealth of local talent from the DVT Academy.

“Lean Agile SA is the perfect storm of international leaders, ICAgile-certified training and industry networking, the likes of which has never before been seen in South Africa,” says event organiser and DVT Agile consultant Joel Oosthuizen. “If you’re an Agile consultant, developer, manager or team leader, or simply want to understand how Lean and Agile software development can elevate your business performance to new levels, you can’t afford to miss this event.”

The two-day conference opens with a welcome address and keynote from the Poppendiecks titled ‘the Building Blocks of Scale, followed by a series of informative lectures throughout the day by Shannon Ewan, Peter Hundermark, Stephen de Villiers Graaf, Mario Matthee, Carol May and Phil Knight.

Oosthuizen says that delegates signed up for day two of the conference get to choose from two comprehensive local and international-led training workshops, including ‘Lean Software Development in a Nutshell’, by Mary and Tom Poppendieck, and ‘ICAgile – Agile Deep Dive’, by the DVT Academy.

“Delegates that sign up for ICAgile courses are also eligible to sign up for post conference training workshops, hosted by Shannon Ewan,” he says. “These will be run in two separate tracks, Facilitation and Coaching, depending on the focus and level of experience of the delegate.”

Lean Agile SA 2014 takes place in Cape Town from 6 to 7 October and Johannesburg from 9 to 10 October.

The cost is R1 850 per day per delegate (VAT inclusive), with early bird pricing for Day One at R1 500 – available only until 31 August.
