Internet Solutions has announced that conditional approval for the proposed transaction that will see Dimension Data acquire MWeb Business, Optinet Service Division and the Optinet Network Division from MWeb Connect has been received from the South African Competition Tribunal.

The effective date of the transaction is 2 January at which time the network assets and bandwidth contracts of MWeb Connect will transfer to Internet Solutions, as well as the full operating business divisions and employees of MWeb Business and Optinet.

“With the approval confirmed, Internet Solutions and MWeb Business will be able to service the SME market segment more competitively through the development of SME specific ICT solutions that will support organisations in running and growing their business efficiently and effectively, “ says Saki Missaikos, MD of Internet Solutions.

“Both MWeb Business and ourselves are delighted to receive the news, and we will be focusing on leveraging the maximum value of both organisations to provide the best products and exceptional service, in an economically viable way, that will support the growing SME market.  The acquisition will give SME business owners access to a wider range of services at more competitive market prices together with greater support for their ICT,” Missaikos adds.

MWeb Connect will retain its consumer ISP business.
