The launch on Friday of Dell’s ICT academy, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) and the CSIR, brings the company’s total equity equivalence investment to more than R1-billion.

The Khulisa Academy, which is the seventh BBBEE equity equivalence programme launched in South Africa – and the fourth in the ICT industry – and will run for the next 10 years.

Each year, candidates will be identified to participate in the academy programme and will be fully supported and funded by the Dell equity equivalent investment. Candidates will enter into a two-year programme where they will be
mentored and monitored by the project sponsors, project manager and administrative structure – in an environment that will have state-of-the-art technology available to them.

Personal development will be a key tenet of the programme, ensuring that each of the candidates develops into a holistic, socially aware individual who reaches their fullest potential.

These candidates will receive a salary while participating in the programme, and all will be assisted with employment thereafter. In addition, deserving candidates will be supported in the start-up of their own businesses after the completion of this programme.
