South African MasterCard business cardholders now have access to an array of exclusive offers with the launch of MasterCard Business Perks, an online portal of discounted products and services designed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).The National Development Plan: Vision for 2030 report identifies South Africa’s SME sector as a pivotal driver of the local economy, and anticipates a contribution of at least 5.4 percent to GDP per year over the next 15 years. However, according to Small Business Project’s research Examining the challenges facing small businesses in South Africa, the lack or mismanagement of finances is one of the primary reasons many SMEs fail.

MasterCard Business Perks offers include:
* Ten percent off global car rentals and exclusive rates for chauffeur and transfer services from Hertz
* R1,000 off a correspondence course through PC Training
* Discounted room rates nationwide from Premier Hotel & Resorts
* Thirty percent off courier rates through Courier IT
* Fourteen percent off MTN My Choice Packages with varied data options and exclusive extras
* Free one-year basic subscriptions (valued at R1,200) and savings up to 40 percent on stationery through OfficeBox
* R175 off domestic flights and R275 off international flights booked through Tripsta

“We recognise that SMEs are instrumental to the South African economy, which is why MasterCard supports this sector by adding value where it counts. MasterCard Business Perks offers have been carefully selected to alleviate the financial stress of investing in the products and services that help business owners manage their companies, such as staff training, travel procurement and necessities for office management,” says Mark Elliott, Division President, MasterCard, South Africa.

In addition to accessing business perks, MasterCard business cardholders can, use their payment cards to make purchases and transfers, manage expenses and review account information. The MasterCard business card also assists with better cash flow management in terms of improved working capital, favourable exchange rates and access to funds when travelling outside the country.

“It’s important that as a technology company, MasterCard, continues to create new and innovative products while enhancing our existing product suite. The next phase of MasterCard Business Perks will be to increase the range of discounts on the portal to add even further value,” says Elliott.

MasterCard Business Perks are available to all MasterCard business cardholders who bank with Absa, Nedbank or Standard Bank.

To sign up for the discounts, cardholders need to access the portal at www.mastercard.com/za/business/small-business, click the dedicated “Business Perks” button, complete a seamless registration process and then login where they’ll find the range of discounted business offers.
