The Gauteng Provincial Government has issued a warning to the public about a scam by impostors who use the name of Premier David Makhura and make promises of jobs, investment opportunities and social grants.
The imposters have created a fictitious Yahoo e-mail address and use it to invite people to enlist for jobs and other benefits from government.

Premier Makhura comments: “It has come to our attention that there is scam intended to swindle unsuspecting people of their hard earned money in exchange for economic opportunities in the province. We are appalled that these unscrupulous criminals are exploiting our efforts and interventions aimed at fighting poverty, unemployment and inequality.
“We have alerted our law enforcement agencies to get to the bottom of this act of criminality,” says Premier Makhura.

The Gauteng government appeals to all those who have received such e-mails from makhuradavid@yahoo.com to forward them to the Premier’s hotline address, hotline@gauteng.gov.za.
