Drive Control Corporation (DCC) last night paid tribute to its Dell reseller partners with a number of awards at an event hosted at its Linbro Park headquarters.

DCC was the first distributor appointed by Dell in South Africa when the vendor decided to supplement its direct model with a channel strategy eight years ago. David Futter, channel director at Dell South Africa, says that its local channel is one of the company’s biggest success stories.

“Through the channel, we have consistently delivered double-digit growth in South Africa and we are confident that this trend will continue in the future,” Futter says. “Due to this success, we have been allocated funds for additional headcount which will be dedicated to our channel as we aim to achieve two-thirds of our revenues through our partners in the next couple of years.

“I have little doubt that, with partners such as Drive Control and yourselves, we will achieve this target,” he told assembled reseller partners.

DCC’s sales director Jenny Rex presented the awards to partners, including a special mention and plaque for Dell SA’s Brian Moss.

“As we all well know, the only constant with vendors is change,” Rex says, “But we have had one person from Dell looking after us for more than six years and Brian has done a sterling job in dealing with the various issues we’ve been faced with and has made his presence felt at every branch from here to Cape Town and Mozambique.

“This special award is just a token of our appreciation,” she adds.

Other awards were presented to:

* IP Video Surveillance as the top Dell reseller specialising in surveillance;

* First Consulting for the largest networking deal of the year;

* Introsat for the largest enterprise deal of the year;

* The award for the largest growth in revenue for the year went to TCM; and

* And Network Alliance scooped the Dell retailer of the year award.
