Following the promotion of incumbent Stewart Van Graan, Dell South Africa has a new head of its local operations.
According to reliable sources, Doug Woolley will take up the position as head of Dell South Africa on 1 September.

This follows Van Graan’s promotion to lead the company’s Enterprise Solutions Group for Emerging Markets which includes Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, all of Africa and the Middle East. Van Graan will still be based in Johannesburg and both he and his successor Woolley will continue to report to Michael Collins who is based in Dubai.

Woolley is no stranger to the local IT industry having come through the ranks of specialist software distributor Workgroup. He was appointed MD of Workgroup following its split from SDD (Siltek Distribution Dynamics) and went on to become CEO of AxizWorkgoup when parent company Pinnacle merged the two entities.

Three years ago, he joined the Business Connexion (BCX) group as group executive for Tech Connexion.

At the time of going to press, Woolley was unavailable for comment and all efforts to get official confirmation of his appointment from Dell proved fruitless.

But an official statement around Woolley’s and Van Graan’s new roles is expected in the coming days.
