Leading electronic payment solution provider in South Africa, PayU, is pleased to announce the signing of a two-way partnership with Callpay, the provider of secure payment technology for call centres. As Callpay continues to expand its presence, the agreement will provide existing and new PayU merchants with a secure way to accept payments over the telephone throughout South Africa.

Callpay works seamlessly with PayU’s comprehensive payment processing capabilities, reporting and fraud monitoring system. Callpay’s patent-pending telephony system allows customers to enter card numbers directly into their telephone keypad when they make a payment over the phone.

The platform integrates seamlessly in almost any contact centre. Cardholder data is transmitted directly to the bank so that no sensitive data is stored in the contact centre’s systems. This descopes the contact centre from the scope of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) regulations and Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act. Using DTMF masking technology, the keypad tones are completely removed so that numbers cannot be identified by their sound, leaving the agent free to continue the conversation with the customer while the payment is made.

The partnership between PayU and Callpay will benefit the customers of both companies. Callpay will be able to offer PayU’s well respected payment products to its new customers, while PayU can provide Callpay’s secure payment solution as their own private label application to merchants who accept card payments over the phone.

JP van der Spuy, CEO of Callpay, stated, “We are looking forward to working with PayU to provide a comprehensive offering for contact centres in South Africa. PayU’s payment expertise is complemented by our own experience in secure telephone payments. This is a great opportunity for the two companies to join forces and offer merchants a secure multi-channel payment solution.”

Johan Dekker, COO of PayU: “PayU is excited to work with Callpay in deploying their game-changing contact centre technology as it perfectly synergises with our more-than 25 payment products and services in the local market. We are looking forward to a relationship that ultimately adds more security and peace of mind for our customers.
