Pearson South Africa has launched a number of new X-kit Achieve Mobile subjects for Grade 12 learners. X-kit Achieve Mobile is an on-the-go revision and practice tool for learners to revise content anywhere, anytime on mobile phones, tablets, laptops and PCs.
Grade 12 subjects include English, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, isiXhosa Home Language, isiZulu Home Language, Afrikaans Huistaal, Afrikaans Eerste Addisionele Taal and Accounting.
“Mobile devices are part of our learners’ lives. We wanted to develop an exam preparation tool that meets learners where they are, but is also of the highest quality and based on solid theoretical frameworks of learning,” says Steve Vosloo, head of mobile at Pearson South Africa.
All quiz questions are structured according to cognitive levels as per CAPs and Exam Guidelines. Learners progress through difficulty levels as they move towards master status. The package includes free quizzes on all topics. Additional quizzes and features can be purchased at R5 per topic, deductable from airtime.
In developing this product, Pearson included features including access to essential theory, helpful hints, worked solutions, achievement badges, leader boards, avatars, the ability to post progress on Facebook and Twitter and achieve subject mastery status.
Also included in X-kit Achieve Mobile are subjects for Grades 8 and 9, with new subjects and grades being added constantly.
X-kit Achieve Mobile can also be used by teachers to set assignments for their learners and have the quizzes marked automatically. The system produces reports that allow teachers to gauge where their learners need additional help.
