UK retailer Marks and Spencer yesterday took down its web site for two hours when a glitch posed serious security concerns.
According to reports, customers logging into their accounts were able to see other customers’ details.
The company says it was a glitch, as a result of an internal error, rather than an external hack.
It also assured customers that their full credit card details were never exposed – although other person data such as name, date of birth, contacts and previous purchases were.
The site was taken down for about two hours on Tuesday while the issue was resolved.
