VMware has announced the appointment of Matthew Kibby as regional director of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
In his new role, Kibby will be directly responsible for driving VMware’s vision and strategy as well as spearheading its continued expansion in the SSA region. Supported with the local VMware sales, channel, marketing, professional services and systems engineering teams, Kibby will drive opportunities with customers and partners around VMware’s unified hybrid cloud, network virtualisation, business mobility and software-defined data centre offerings. Kibby, based in Johannesburg, reports into Henri van der Vaeren, vice-president: South Europe, Middle East & Africa (SEMEA) at VMware.
With more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry, Kibby joins VMware from Oracle where he held a number of senior sales roles in technology and financial services.
“I am delighted to have joined a company like VMware at such a time when new IT architecture is required to drive digital transformation in today’s competitive business environment,” says Kibby. “I have a dynamic and knowledgeable team in the region, who I believe are at the forefront of helping businesses innovate and transform their operations.”
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Kibby as the new regional director of Sub-Saharan Africa and are looking forward to him continuing to drive VMware’s presence in sub-Saharan Africa,” says Van der Vaeren. “Matthew has a real passion and ability for understanding the business needs of an organisation and how IT can help deliver great results, and we hope he will appeal to our customers and partners in the region.”
