Zunaid Bulbulia, previously CEO of MTN, has joined the Huge Group as an independent non-executive director and member of the audit committee.
Bulbulia has been in the telecommunications industry for 20 years, and as one of the founding members of the MTN team.
During his 20 years with MTN South Africa he served as financial manager and in various general manager positions, including general manager of subscriber operations and service operations.
He was appointed chief financial officer of MTN South Africa in 2005 and CEO in May 2013. In August 2014 he was appointed group chief operations executive of MTN Group. In both of these positions, he was tasked with bolstering MTN’s competitive position in the various markets in which MTN operates.
Bulbulia left the MTN Group in December 2015, following the imposition on MTN of a massive fine by the Nigerian Communications Commission, to pursue various business opportunities.
He holds a BCom Accounting Degree from the University of Witwatersrand, as well as a BCompt Honours (CTA) from the University of South Africa and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
