Today’s small and medium businesses (SMBs) want communication technology that facilitates business growth that is created by smarter working employees who deliver customer satisfaction. The latest enhancements, to the Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch Suite for SMBs, enable business partners to offer SMBs simplified communications tools that create a personalised connected experience.

As part of the recently introduced Value for Partners (V4P) program ALE, operating under the brand Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, teamed with business partners to understand how to better serve SMBs. As a result, the core of the OpenTouch Suite for SMB – the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office RCE release 10.2 feature-rich, end-to-end converged communication server – now supports the following enhanced capabilities:

  • A simplified unified communications offer;
  • Expanded mobility and BYOD solutions; and
  • Streamlined ordering processes.

The Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch Conversation (OTCV) mobile application, available as part of the OmniPCX Office RCE update, gives employees access to the same communication and collaboration services on the road as in the office resulting in faster responses to internal or external conversations.

An additional feature to OTCV includes OpenTouch Contactless Call Shift, which is available on Android smart phones. Using Near Field Communications (NFC) the OpenTouch Contactless Call Shift technology enables employees to seamlessly transfer an active call from one device to another, between a personal mobile, corporate mobile or any company desk phone as the device of choice for business calls. And available for iPhone and Android, the OTCV app now enables E911 notification in the US.

For SMBs, the phone is still one way to create a satisfied customer. The Alcatel-Lucent 8001 DeskPhone delivers advanced features of a SIP phone at an affordable, entry-level price. Remote or on-site workers can also benefit from the Alcatel-Lucent IP Desktop Softphone, a multimedia, fully integrated telephony application providing voice communications on a user’s desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android tablets and smartphones.

The Alcatel-Lucent Hospitality solution benefits as well when combined with this new release. Business Partners are able to reach two-star and three-star hotels that are usually challenged by the price and need to serve up to 200 users.

Another enhanced capability is the SMB sales assistant, which helps increase and optimise sales for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Business Partners as it simplifies the sales quotation process by building solutions easily online or via a tablet while in person with the customer. The new ecommerce-looking tool synchs with the catalogue and ordering process making it easier for the business partner to interact and capture the needs of the customer.

Damien Delard, head of SMB Business, ALE – “The new OpenTouch Suite for SMB and its enhanced applications delivers advances in communications so SMBs can also gain business benefits from unified communications and mobility. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Business Partners are better equipped to meet the needs of SMBs who seek simple to install, easy to use and maintain technology that evolves with their business.”
