From today, Gauteng parents won’t have to stand overnight in long queues, but will be able to apply online to enrol their children for the 2017 school year.
The Gauteng Department of Education is urging parents to access the Admission Online website through www.gdeadmissions.gov.za to register or verify information and apply for admission.
The system is specifically geared to first-time Grade 1 and Grade 8 applicants and those relocating from other areas for 2017 learner intake.
Re-enrolments for learners who are currently in Grade 1 to 6 in primary schools and Grade 8 to 11 in Secondary schools applications will be processed by schools from 11 April to 29 April.
A statement from the department cautions that the system won’t cater for applications for the inbetween grades unless the parents will be relocating in 2017. These parents are urged to consult with the school to verify availability of spaces.
To use the online system, parents should register or verify their details and learner details from 11 April 2016. The actual application period begins on 19 April 2016 at 08H00 and will close midnight on 1 June 2016.
The placement period begins on 24 June and runs until 7 September 2016, but which time all learners should be placed.
The online admissions system can be found at http://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za on the “Welcome to Admissions Online Application for 2017” page.
