Commvault has appointed Mike Rees as territory account manager for South Africa.
His role will include driving new business whilst building and further forging relationships with existing customers. Rees will assist customers to keep abreast of their evolving information management needs and requirements including migrating to the cloud as well as ‘hybrid’ environments.
Says Bassam Hemdan, area vice-president at Commvault: “Rees is no stranger to Commvault.  He joined us in 2011 as a business development manager until July 2014, gaining experience within the African region.
“Over the years, he has garnered additional skills and experience with a number of well-known data management organisations in the key areas of professional services, solution architecture, cloud computing, storage, virtual desktop infrastructure and business development.
“This expertise will stand him in good stead in his new role at Commvault and position him as a trusted advisor to his customer base.”
In order for companies to leverage the strategic value of their data, they need to know what data they have, where it resides and importantly, how to manage this data effectively with an end-to-end approach.
Traditional information management methods have become complex and Rees’ new role will involve helping clients to simplify the management of their data, maximise value from it whilst improving performance, availability and cost efficiencies.
Rees believes it is important for South African companies to transform their data centres from a cost centre into a value centre.
Many organisations are lured into procuring solutions that address information management issues within individual areas of the business rather than viewing it as all encompassing. The result is a disparate collection of solutions that do not deliver a single view of the entire organisation’s data.
“This hinders transparency and requires multiple skill sets in an already skills scarce market.  By having a single data management platform with one catalogue and index, companies can allocate resources to focus on strategic efforts including innovation, adding significant value to the organisation,” he says.
“I will assist companies to achieve their business goals by simplifying data management and delivering strategic insight into their information.”
Rees looks forward to growing Commvault’s market share in South Africa and being able to deliver a premium solution to businesses that transforms information into a strategic advantage and assists to reduce storage and management costs.
