MultiChoice partners with Digital Skills Academy

MultiChoice has become the latest organisation in Africa to sign an Industry Partner agreement with Digital Skills Academy, as well as becoming a Corporate Client to develop its internal high-level digital skills pool.
The partnership with Digital Skills Academy is aimed to help MultiChoice meet the challenges of digitisation head-on.
MultiChoice Group GM: BI, Information & Insights Morne Bosch-Serfontein says the programme will include enrolling some of MultiChoice’s team members on the International BSc in Digital Skills, as well as working with Digital Skills Academy’s international participants on digital innovation projects for MultiChoice.
“The training and collaboration is going to support work on some of our key projects, which may include the optimisation of our app, enhanced content streaming or the integration of other video-on- demand services,” says Bosch-Serfontein.
He explains that the media industry is increasingly dependent on new technologies and digital enhancements, as it moves to deliver more content to more people on various different platforms.
“MultiChoice prides itself on being very effective and innovative when it comes to digital processing and digital practices. We were one of the first companies to launch catch up services – which is an on-demand service, and that just shows the importance of the digital landscape to us,” he says.
“At MultiChoice, it is very important for us to adapt with change to grow our business, so aligning with a partner that can assist us with world-class digital training solidifies our journey toward taking content to anyone on any platform they choose.”
Bosch-Serfontein believes that in addition to upskilling staff, affiliation with an international company such as Digital Skills Academy is beneficial for MultiChoice: “We are very excited about getting exposure on an international level and working with international players in order to understand what the digital landscape looks like in other businesses and other industries. Media, content and digitisation are all international, so it was important for us to choose the right international partner to help us upskill our team. As a Digital Skills Academy Industry Partner, we can run projects that benefit MultiChoice digitisation objectives.”
The Industry Partner agreement follows the signing of similar agreements with South Africa’s leading corporations including MTN, Standard Bank and KPMG South Africa. Globally, Digital Skills Academy works with large corporate brands to offer relevant, cutting edge industry experience as part of its internationally-acclaimed online degree programmes.
