MMD (Multimedia Displays) has appointed Chris Barnes as the country manager for Philips and AOC monitors in South Africa. MMD is part of the TPV Technology group.
Barnes brings significant experience to the company, after working in the industry for more than 10 years. He joins MMD technology from Axizworkgroup where he managed the HP Computing Business.
Barnes, who says that his short term goal is to start working closely with distributors and to strengthen the channel partners around Philips and AOC, has seen immense change in the sector in the past decade.
“The change has meteoric, with the monitors available to consumers today hardly resembling those of ten years ago. With the monitor market shrinking each year, my job is both exciting and challenging. Fortunately the Philips and AOD brands are highly innovative and are able to adapt to market demands. This keeps us ahead of the pack,” says Barnes.
“Phillips is a well-established brand in South Africa and has been for more than 25 years. It offers an extensive range of monitors, from B2C, where you can get 4-sided frameless monitors in the Moda range, to the B2B, which includes the 4K resolution screens available in various sizes from 23,8-inch to 43-inch,” he says.
“The gaming market is also significant and AOC produces a range of products that is incredibly well suited for the gaming community, with features such as QHD resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, G-Sync and FreeSync technology,”.
