Riverbed Technology today announced the appointment of Roma Smith, who joins the company as regional director for Africa, South of the Sahara.
Smith will be responsible for leading the sales, technical and channel management teams in the region. She will play a key role in meeting the company’s business goals within the region and strengthening the company’s outstanding reputation for service, delivery and support to channel partners and enterprise clients.
Smith will report to Allan Paton, regional vice-president for UK, Ireland and South Africa, since his responsibilities have now expanded to include this region.

Paton comments: “Roma comes to Riverbed with extensive experience and a successful track record of selling enterprise solutions and developing C-level relationships. I am delighted to have Roma on board. Smith adds: “Riverbed has been a prevailing force in the local IT industry for a long time. The company has industry-leading technology, loyal clients, strong partnerships and a committed channel community, so I’m really excited to be joining the company and the team. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience in the industry and the region to assist enterprise clients in the adoption and deployment of new and exciting technologies. In the process, we will continue the momentum and generate new revenue streams for us and our partners. I look forward to helping accelerate growth of the Riverbed business in this region.”
