First National Bank (FNB) has been awarded the accolade of Best Retail Bank in Southern Africa at the recent annual Banker Africa – Southern Africa Awards 2017.
According to Banker Africa, the Banker Africa Awards recognise financial institutions that offer best-in-class services that meet the needs and exceed the expectations of customers. The institution says the Awards promote excellence and competition among entities that set new standards in quality of service, best practice and financial performance. The winners were selected by registered readers of CPI Financial products and services, mainly peers in the financial services industry.
Faye Mfikwe, FNB chief marketing officer, says the recognition is testament to the bank’s efforts to consistently build a brand that not only delivers helpful solutions to its customers but one that sets industry benchmarks in innovation and performance.
“Our fundamental commitment is to deliver on our brand promise of helpfulness, which manifests in the range of innovative solutions we offer our customers. This is one of the reasons we continue to build a compelling digital offering which incorporates unique solutions such as FNB Connect, Smart Devices and a world-class Banking App that seamlessly integrates our services,” adds Mfikwe.
Over the years, FNB has been migrating customers to digital platforms across various touch-points, including its branches which are now equipped with digital zones. During the recent interim results announcement, the bank remarked that it continues to see reasonable growth in the adoption of its digital banking platforms as well as market share.
Earlier this year, FNB received global recognition as one of the world’s most powerful banking brands, ranked 4th in the banking category of Brand Finance’s Brand Strength Index (BSI) for 2017. The bank also received numerous accolades for services such as forex and digital capabilities.
