Huawei officially launched the industry’s first new-generation convergent all-flash system that features flash-oriented storage OS, chips and Solid State Drive (SSD) end-to-end in-depth optimisation yesterday at the Huawei South Africa Eco-Connect Conference in Sandton.
The OceanStor Dorado V3 is designed to process overloaded key applications in enterprises by providing outstanding performance, reliability, convergence, and efficiency for data centre transformation. It offers 4 million IOPS and 500μ latency, consumes up to 75% less power and reduces TCO by up to 70%. The new system can improve database performance by up to twentyfold, while ensuring service sustainability.
Enterprises around the world face the impact of digital flooding as well as challenges posed by fast-growing data scales and growing demand for higher service processing performance and storage efficiency. As an accelerator of enterprises’ digitalisation transformation, flash memory plays a crucial role in the industry, by enabling higher performance and bringing new momentum for speeding up key services.
To address the high-reliability requirements for enterprise storage, the OceanStor Dorado V3 adopts the patented flash reliability assurance technology of Huawei to extend the flash life by up to threefold, while providing a gateway-free HyperMetro active-active solution to ensure the high availability of services.
In addition to ensuring high performance, Huawei’s OceanStor Dorado V3 perfectly embodies the high efficiency of the cloud era. Its inline deduplication compression technology can increase the storage space usage rate by more than five times.
Huawei has accumulated 12 years of experience in this field since commencing its research on flash technologies in 2005. To date, it is the only vendor in the industry that provides self-developed storage OS, controllers, and SSD disks and is capable of performing end-to-end in-depth optimisation on flash.
As longstanding partners of Huawei, Intel, Oracle and Brocade expressed their support for Huawei’s OceanStor Dorado V3 and its construction of a flash storage ecosphere from the aspects of chip, database and network respectively.
Jonas Arndt, senior cloud solution architect of the Huawei Global Solution Elite Team, says: “As early as five years ago, Huawei foresaw the immense potential for flash memory and released the first-generation all-flash products. This enables Huawei to accumulate rich experience in and market opportunities for flash memory.
“The Huawei OceanStor Dorado V3, emerging in response to the demand for core overload applications, possesses leading characters that the similar products in the industry entirely lack and speeds up enterprises’ core applications without compromising reliability and data processing efficiency.”
