Cloud platform provider Routed is now a VMware cloud provider partner and that its public cloud service has attained VMware Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) Powered status.
Routed will offer clients a simple, cost-effective VMware-based cloud service that seamlessly supports their customers’ vSphere(r) environments.
A disaster recovery plan enables organisations to have peace of mind that potential downtime and loss of data resulting from a natural disaster or equipment failure can be minimised. Organisations that want to minimise the costs of infrastructure and software needed for a secondary or tertiary disaster recovery site can utilise Routed’s public cloud as recovery infrastructure. By using Routed’s disaster recovery service, firms can save by using a subscription-based service instead of making capital investments into physical infrastructure.
VMware DRaaS Powered status also enables organisations to quickly search for and identify service providers who provide disaster recovery services based on VMware technology.
VMware DRaaS Powered status is backed by VMware vCloud Director. VMware vCloud Availability for vCloud Director enables VMware Cloud Provider partners to offer simple, cost-effective cloud-based disaster recovery services that seamlessly support their customers’ vSphere environments.
“Business continuity is a significant pain point for enterprise IT due to the complexity and cost of solutions. VMware vCloud Availability allows us to appeal to enterprises with a simple self-managed solution which is easy to deploy and cost effective, due to good value licensing costs and pay-per-use cloud based recovery resources,” says Andrew Cruise, MD of Routed. “The fact that we have attained the DRaaS certification from VMware provides our customers with the comfort of knowing that we are capable of delivering robust and high performance DRaaS solutions that are approved by VMware.”
“Organisations continue to seek ways to protect their operations from downtime and loss of data. With more applications, systems and data to protect than ever before, having a disaster recovery plan in place is important,” says Dave Funnell, business development manager: sub-Saharan Africa at VMware. “We are pleased that Routed has attained VMware DRaaS Powered status and look forward to our continued collaboration.”
By receiving VMware DRaaS Powered status Routed has become the first local VMware cloud provider partner to receive the badge in Southern Africa. As a VMware cloud provider partner, Routed can now provide users with enhanced responsiveness and agility, and enable reduced IT costs through greater performance, availability and scalability.
