The ZA namespace managed by the ZA Central Registry Non-Profit Company (ZACR) will feature prominently at iWeek 2017.
ZACR is the partner of South Africa’s longest-running Internet industry conference that is scheduled from 4 to 7 September at Durban’s Southern Sun Elangeni and Maharani. This is the first time that an iWeek event is held in the Zulu Kingdom.
According to ZACR CEO, Lucky Masilela: “Our presence at iWeek enables us to engage with the ICT industry and to update the domain name sector with regards to developments at ZACR and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Registry Africa.” The latter is responsible for the administration for the dotAfrica (.africa) gTLDs.”
As an iWeek co-host, ZACR will be sponsoring an iWeek stream that will focus exclusively on the .ZA namespace that is emerging as a key element of South Africa’s national identity.
ZACR will be running a half-day session on 6 September 2017 with various topics covered from 09h00 to 12h00. These will include an address by ZACR CEO, Lucky Masilela, a panel discussion on abusive domain name registrations, launch of the AF Proxy, Registrar best practice, feedback on supplier performance assessment and DNSSEC implementation.
A highlight of the ZACR’s iWeek programme will be a panel discussion facilitated by Devi Sankaree Govender, the well-known Carte Blanche presenter and investigative journalist. Panelists will include Andrew Marshall (Dingley Marshall), Simla Budhu (ZACR Legal Head), Vika Mpisane (ZADNA CEO), Ant Brooks (ISPA Special Advisor) and Brett Van Laun (SA Webs CEO).
The ISPA iWeek conference has annually been attracting world-renowned experts and speakers for 16 years who meet to network and share best practices in the ICT sector. Most of the conference sessions are open to the public.
