Hitachi Vantara has announced the expansion of its Hitachi Enterprise Cloud portfolio to address DevOps and container use cases.
The Hitachi Enterprise Cloud with VMware vRealize Automation now provides expanded services offering for DevOps and Container Support for hybrid cloud deployments inclusive of cloud-native architectures.
In addition, a new Hitachi Enterprise Cloud Container Platform provides hybrid cloud resources for DevOps that utilise microservices architecture with a turnkey, end-to-end container as a service environment.
“Without fail, customers are driven by their unique business objectives and pressures. Their journey to the cloud is no exception: Everyone is on their own path,” says Bobby Soni, chief solutions and services officer, Hitachi Vantara. “Our collaborations with industry leaders like VMware and Mesosphere enable us to create unique Hitachi Enterprise Cloud offerings to address the diversity of use cases in DevOps and containers.”
With expanded support for DevOps and Containers, Hitachi Enterprise Cloud with VMware vRealize 7.3 automates the creation, deployment and management of container hosts and cloud-native applications as a service, across a multi-vendor, multi-cloud infrastructure. The platform provides developers with pre-engineered container templates with full support for persistent volumes, improved container networking, container host and image repository management.
In addition, the developers can enhance the applications to include dynamic networks or micro-segmentation, while administrators can manage the container host infrastructure with SLA driven policy based governance.
HEC with VMware vRealize 7.3 supports collaboration between cloud administrators and development teams for traditional, containerised, and hybrid applications. These capabilities simplify re-packaging and re-factoring of traditional apps as containers and enable customers to use a consistent operations model and tools for both traditional and containerised applications. vRealize Automation 7.3 provides fine grained control of containers and their hosts throughout their lifecycle. These capabilities can be useful in a multi-tenant environment and allow organisations to more easily manage Containers in production.
Hitachi Enterprise Cloud Container Platform assists organisations in reducing their reliance on public cloud resources for their born-in-the-cloud applications. It provides hybrid cloud resources for DevOps that utilise microservices architecture with a turnkey, end-to-end container platform and a ready-to-use container-as-a-service environment.
The architecture combines Hitachi infrastructure with Mesosphere DC/OS to provide PaaS element integration and user interface, container engine, scheduling, orchestration and workflow, with more than 50 preconfigured container applications, and options for persistent storage and private repository.
The pre-engineered environment enables developers to focus on app development and provides operations with robust and industrialised service-level choices that the business demands once those applications reach production.
“Hitachi’s focus on innovation and data is virtually unmatched in the industry. Hitachi Enterprise Cloud for Containers powered by industry-leading Mesosphere container and big data technology is no exception,” said William Freiberg, COO, Mesosphere. “Our joint offering improves agility, increases value, accelerates time to market and, ultimately, helps customers realise the power of their data.”
All Hitachi Enterprise Cloud solutions provide a public cloud experience and ease of use with simple access to cloud services through a cloud service portal. Hybrid cloud features automatically deploy to either private or public clouds in line with an organisation’s business or regulatory rules. Hitachi ensures capacity is available to meet peak demands on the private cloud. As part of the offerings, Hitachi outlines performance against service-level agreements to ensure applications are available and meeting business requirements.
Hitachi Enterprise Cloud is delivered as a fully managed, outcome-based solution with consumption-based pricing that ensures that customers only pay for the capacity and resources used.
Both of these new Hitachi Enterprise Cloud managed solutions are available through an early customer adoption programme. This programme is designed to provide an opportunity for initial customers to co-create the solution with our partners and us before the solution is standardised for general availability. Co-creation ensures that our service offerings have proven strategic relevance and greater value for our customers and enable us to develop differentiated solutions together with partners.
