Following a presentation on innovation last week where it displayed a “tap-and-go” credit card application for Johannesburg’s Gautrain, Nedbank has stressed that the payment system is still in its pilot stage.
In a statement shortly after the presentation, Nedbank says: “Nedbank wishes to clarify that the tap-and-go payment, via contactless cards, at the Gautrain station in Sandton is currently only at pilot
stage with select clients. The service, which in time will become available to all commuters irrespective of who they bank with, is not yet active to the public.
“Commuters must continue to use their Gautrain Gold Cards. The go-live date of this service will be communicated by the Gautrain Management Agency and Bombela once the payment
platform solution is ready.
“Nedbank apologises for any misunderstanding and inconvenience caused to commuters.”
