Acer South Africa has announced the local availability of the d150 Portable Navigator, a turnkey Global Positioning System (GPS) solution made for in car navigation.

The latest addition to Acer’s growing range of GPS products features a 200-nit bright touch screen, a two watt speaker for clear audio directions, South African Map data from NAVTEQ stored on a SD card and a host of other multimedia features.
The Acer d150 is bundled with a car-mount kit that effortlessly transforms the device into an affordable car navigation system. The product offers 12 parallel channels, an integrated patch antenna and the latest GPS system, SiRF StarII LP with XTRAC v2.

The Acer d150’s Destinator DS Navigation Software saves users time and frustration with features such as destination history, trip planner, points of interest, favourites, and routes the user wishes to avoid. The NAVTEQ digital maps on SD/MMC (non-volatile) media provide convenient directions for locations within South Africa.
With 8,5 hours of battery life, the Acer d150 gives users the freedom to roam without needing to carry bulky power adaptors. A built-in MP3 player allows users to enjoy their favourite beats on the road, while an integrated photo viewer allows travellers to share their memories with friends and family.
An SD/MMC expansion slot permits quick map changes or added storage for more MP3 songs or photos. An easy to use finger-tap touch screen means that users don’t have to worry about losing a stylus. The Acer d150 is based on a solid technical foundation with a Samsung S3C2410 application processor running at 266MHz, 64Mb SDRAM for user applications and storage, and the Windows CE NET 4.2 operating system.
