After a quarter century at the company, industry veteran Dave Botha has left IBM South Africa to "pursue other options in the industry".

Botha joined IBM in 1973 in what was then its distribution centre. In the mid-1990s he briefly left to form his own company before current IBM SA head Mark Harris persuaded him to rejoin the firm.
He was appointed executive in charge of IBM's communications centre, responsible for telecoms and media companies. Subsequently, he took up the position of marketing director before moving into his final position at the firm last year as IBM's outsourcing services executive.
