In a shock move, certainly one that caught its distribution partners by surprise, Microsoft South Africa's OEM director, Goona Sagaren Udayan has resigned from the company with immediate effect.

With the consumer launch of Microsoft's Vista literally days away, partners expressed surprise at the announcement. Many had been impressed with Udayan's performance in the channel since his appointment to the position in August last year.
Udayan was quick to point out that nothing sinister should be read into his resignation.
"My decision was based on purely personal reasons," he says. "I am looking to get back to Cape Town and it was a decision that I had to take."
Udayan says he will "take a few weeks off" to decide what he will do in the future.
"At this stage, I am looking at some options in Cape Town, but I haven't decided on anything specific," he says.
Bradley Hopkinson, previous OEM and partner director at the local subsidiary and who is now responsible for the Middle East and certain European territories, will assume Udayan's local responsibilities until a replacement is recruited.
