Hewlett-Packard has formed a new division within its software organisation – the Business Information Optimization unit – to help customers better manage their business-critical information.

The new unit is split into two distinct groups – business intelligence (BI) and information management – and will offer software solutions from across the group.
At the core of the new business unit will be HP Neoview, an enterprise-class data warehouse, which began shipping to customers in October last year. Also key will be product from recently-acquired Knightsbridge Solutions, a specialist in BI and data warehousing services.
Business information Optimization will be headed up by former IBMer, Ben Barnes.
